Intraoral camera comparison
Comparable VGA imaging.
A different approach to cable maintenance.
The ProDENT PD740, PD750 and MouthWatch standard camera are in the same 640 × 480 imaging class. For routine intraoral photography, ProDENT assesses the PD740 and PD750 as offering comparable image quality to the MouthWatch standard model.1
The key practical distinction is the cable: both ProDENT models have a detachable cable with an aviation-style connector at the handpiece, while the MouthWatch standard camera has an integrated cable.
This comparison covers PD740, PD750 and MouthWatch Standard only. It does not compare ProDENT HD models or MouthWatch Plus+.

1. Image-quality assessment. The comparable-image-quality statement reflects ProDENT's product assessment, not a controlled side-by-side imaging study. Equal resolution does not guarantee identical images; results depend on capture conditions and software settings.
2. Software compatibility. Confirm the exact imaging software, version and operating system, including live preview, capture-button operation and image saving. Supported integration lists are not necessarily identical.
3. Model-compatible cables. Use the correct replacement cable for the specific model; cross-model interchangeability is not implied. A cable swap resolves a fault only when the cable is the cause and the handpiece remains functional. Multi-operatory use requires matching cables and software setup at each workstation.
4. Warranty terms. Manufacturer terms, coverage and exclusions apply. See the linked warranty policies below.
Why a detachable cable matters
Keep the working handpiece
When a fault is isolated to the cable, replace that component rather than replacing an otherwise functional handpiece.
Add a troubleshooting option
A known-good, compatible spare cable gives the team another way to check a suspected cable problem on site.
Plan maintenance separately
Manage cable replacements separately from handpiece replacements, and choose how each operatory is equipped.
Serviceability is not a tested lifespan claim. These benefits follow from the detachable design. This comparison does not establish a lower failure rate, greater impact resistance or a longer tested service life.
Planning a multi-operatory rollout?
Start with the workflow, not just the specification sheet. Tell us which imaging software and versions your practices use, the number of operatories, and whether you prefer a dedicated camera at each chair or a shared-handpiece setup.
ProDENT can help confirm compatibility and identify the correct camera and cable configuration before you scale deployment.
